Fundamental Critical Care Support (FCCS) - 2026
Increased specialization and rapid advances in critical care medicine make staying updated on new procedures and treatment protocols difficult. The Fundamental Critical Care Support (FCCS) curriculum is intended to introduce principles important in the initial care of critically ill/injured patients to physicians, physicians-in-training, nurses and other healthcare providers who may or may not be skilled in critical care but who must care for such patients during early stabilization and in anticipation of the arrival of an intensivist, specialist or pending transfer of a patient to a tertiary center. FCCS provides healthcare professionals, including non-intensivists, with the training to manage critically ill patients for the first 24 hours or until appropriate critical care consultation can be arranged. The course concentrates on adult critical care but also includes separate sections on critical care for pregnancy and pediatrics.
Target Audience
Nonintensivists: Healthcare professionals who may not be formally trained in critical care but need to manage critically ill patients.
Physicians: Including house staff, general surgeons, and medical students.
Nurses: Critical care nurses and other healthcare providers who may care for critically ill patients.
Advanced Practice Providers: Such as nurse practitioners and physician assistants.
This course aims to equip participants with the necessary skills to manage critically ill patients effectively for the first 24 hours or until appropriate care is arranged.
