Primary Care WebEx: Eating Disorders: An Update for Primary Care Clinicians

Primary care providers play an important role in detecting symptoms of disordered eating, referring patients and providing on-going management. Eating Disorders Update offers an opportunity to learn about the most current approaches for diagnosing patients with disordered eating, as well as therapies for their medical management. This talk will also will cover treating special populations within eating disorders, such as children, boys/men, LGBTQ, and the culturally diverse, as well as the impact of COVID 19 on eating disorders.

Learning Objectives

Following this learning activity, participants will be able to:

  • Recognize warning signs/symptoms of eating disorders
  • Determine when to screen for eating disorders and what screening tools to use for eating disorders in Epic
  • Make appropriate referrals for specialty care
  • Apply strategies to treat special populations within eating disorders: Children, boys/men, LGBTQ, and culturally diverse
  • Discuss and analyze the impact of COVID 19 on eating disorders
