Experts from MHealth Fairview's Comprehensive Gender Care Program will provide details on vaginoplasty surgery options and pre-surgery and post-surgery care and recommendations for preparation, recovery, and management of post-op concerns.

Target Audience

Prescribing primary care and gender services clinicians, mental health providers, pelvic health physical therapists, occupational therapists, nurses.

Learning Objectives

Following this learning activity, participants will be able to:

  • Identity the pros and cons of the three approaches to vaginoplasty (penile/scrotal inversion, peritoneal, colon)
  • Discuss the appropriate surgical preparation steps to vaginoplasty, including hair removal and the use of physical therapy and/or occupational therapy to prepare for surgery and recovery
  • Apply strategies to manage common post-op concerns or refer to other specialties after vaginoplasty
