ACLS Update - 2026

January 20, 2026 to December 31, 2026

Physicians and other healthcare professionals need to have current skills in ACLS to be able to respond to cardiovascular emergencies. This course is designed to go beyond basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation to include advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) techniques. ACLS teaches learners how to improve patient outcomes by sustaining life and making efforts to keep a patient’s neurological function intact during cardiovascular events such as stroke and heart attack. With ACLS, healthcare professionals can optimize resuscitation efforts, and ultimately, improve their chances of saving a patient’s life. The course is designed to change learner competence and performance. The course will follow AHA guidelines and coursework with review and simulation of clinical algorithms for the treatment of life-threatening cardiovascular conditions.

Learning Objectives

Following this CME activity, participants will be able to:

  • Apply the BLS, Primary and Secondary Assessments sequence for a systematic evaluation of adult patients
  • Recognize and perform early management of bradycardias and tachycardias that may result in cardiac arrest or complicate resuscitation outcome
  • Model effective communication as a member or leader of a high-performance team
  • Recognize the impact of team dynamics on overall team performance
  • Recognize and perform early management of respiratory arrest
  • Recognize cardiac arrest and perform prompt, high-quality BLS and optimized management of cardiac arrest until termination of resuscitation or transfer of care, including post–cardiac arrest care
  • Evaluate resuscitative efforts during a cardiac arrest through continuous assessment of CPR quality, monitoring the patient’s response and delivering real-time feedback to the team
