Strength in Practice: Supporting Clinicians through Patient Bias - Simulation

September 5, 2025 to December 31, 2026

Clinicians often encounter bias and discrimination in healthcare settings—both as care providers and as individuals. These experiences can negatively affect well-being, team dynamics, and clinical performance, yet many clinicians lack the tools, strategies, and support systems to effectively respond. Part 3 of our organizational bias training addresses patient bias directed toward clinicians, aiming to improve clinician well-being, preserve therapeutic relationships and promote inclusive care environments. This activity builds on Parts 1 and 2, which focused on unconscious bias in clinical decision-making, by offering a simulation-based experience that deepens empathy, strengthens communication skills, and reinforces a culture of allyship.

Participants will engage in realistic scenarios designed to enhance their ability to identify bias, intervene effectively, and create stronger support mechanisms for themselves and their teams. This practical, experiential training will equip clinicians with actionable strategies to interrupt bias, support affected colleagues, and foster inclusive environments for clinicians and patients.
