Strength in Practice: Supporting Clinicians through Patient Bias - Video Series

Clinicians often encounter bias and discrimination in healthcare settings—both as care providers and as individuals. These experiences can negatively affect well-being, team dynamics, and clinical performance, yet many clinicians lack the tools, strategies, and support systems to effectively respond. While clinicians are expected to maintain professionalism toward all patients, they also deserve to work in an environment free from mistreatment. Balancing patient care with the right to dignity and respect remains a complex challenge in healthcare.

This practical training explores the impact of patient bias on clinicians through case discussions sharing real experiences of our own HealthPartners colleagues that offer a powerful lens to reflect on the impact of patient bias. The session will present evidence-based, practical tools for navigating reassignment requests, balancing patient autonomy with clinician dignity, and fostering inclusive, respectful care environments.
